As revealed by Io9 earlier today, and confirmed by a press release sent to me today, the Zombie Strike line is now officially acknowledged by Nerf, and more products from the line were revealed, as well as their anticipated release months in the USA.
The Hammershot and Sledgeshot have already been revealed by Target, but here they are again along with official product descriptions and targeted release months.
The zombie apocalypse is on its way and Hasbro’s NERF ZOMBIE STRIKE line has landed just in time!
Fans can reenact their favorite, action-packed zombie scenes, plan for epic battles against the undead and hone the skills necessary to ensure the survival of the human race. The debut ZOMBIE STRIKE lineup, featuring the multi-shot SLEDGEFIRE blaster and the front loading HAMMERSHOT blaster, is available exclusively at Target this fall and features all new zombie-influenced deco and designs. If you’ve been keeping count, it’s basically 3 new dart shooters, 3 new disk shooters, a new melee item, a new crossbow, and a target set. I’m glad we’re not getting ALL of these products this year, that would be way too much Nerf to buy in one year. Which, if any, of these products are you looking forward to?

Not a dumb question at all! I haven’t gotten any official confirmation, but the zombie strike darts look like elite darts, so they should be able to be cross compatible.

The range claims are really confusing in the release. It appears that only blaster capable of elite-range is the crossbow.
I know there was a range test for the Hammershot a couple months ago that suggested sub-elite-range, but is there any official word?

the dart blasters should be getting the 75ft like the rebelle line blasters, the hammershot is basically the wildshot.

NerfNation confirmed that the Elite ZS dart firing blasters shoot up to Elite ranges (75ft). The Ripshot, Ricochet and Ripshot remain unclear. What does appear likely is the torsion system seem to have been slimmed down massively, and perhaps we will see new ranges and speeds? Oh and the Blade of course doesn’t count :P

Is it just me or would it be a good idea to take the sledgefire firing system and make it a pump action blaster like a Mossberg 500?

These look awesome. The new hammer priming system is great.I might get the sledgefire to use as a secondary. As for the other blasters it looks like Zombie Strike is mostly pistol focused with a few odd ones. All Zombie Strike needs now is a bolt action clip system rifle. Also if the holster is any good I might get the sidestrike, a pistol that comes with a holster and has a under barrel tac rail, I like Zombie Strike now.

This is a surprising return to traditional roots for Nerf. The blaster types are more akin to what I’d expect from something like the old CyberStryke or Nerf Hypersight releases.
And I fully, wholeheartedly, nostalgically welcome it with open arms.

Did anybody wonder….how the heck does the crossbow work?I know its a pull back but,where do you place the darts?

the dart goes in that little hole in the front, and the holes under it are used for storing darts. :)

Just under the iron sights is a the firing barrel. Also Nerf is getting more creative in their tac rail placement.

In answer to Danial’s question, the crossbow is a continuous loading pull-back, kind of like a repeating rifle. Also, all Zombiestrike blasters will have a 75ft range, except for the Zombiestrike Blade.
Remember: Swords don’t need ammo. That’s why I’m still alive and the zombie I just decapitated wasn’t.

So far, not a fan. This is the type designing that seems to be consistent with online amateur designs or with the unpolished/unreleased ones off of the Wii games. Some almost have a 3D printer feel to them. Only the Sledgefire, Hammershot, & Crossfire really appeal to me. Maybe it’s the contrast from the high standards which Hasbro has set with the Elite series, but this just seems like a misstep. Still interested, just puzzled.

Just wanted to point out – looks like those Vortex blasters may use something else other than torsion springs to launch the discs. There’s no room for a torsion spring mechanism anywhere, not even a small one. So…I might pick up one or two just out of curiosity. –Coyote (formerly skyNerf)

Alright the Hammershot and Sledgefire have been shown already, and I’m totally getting them, the Crossfire doesn’t look the most appealing, I could give it a try, and the Fusefire looks like a cross of the Vigilon and Speedload 6, two of my favorite large pistol blasters, so I’m psyched for that. The other blasters in my opinion look a little standard, nothing really to wow you, and the sword has a nice paint job. This is definitely a line I’ll be following, and it looks like its taking the place of Dart Tag. One thing I wonder how to the extra cartridges in the Sledgefire stay in if you tilt the blaster vertically or upside down? I hope they clip into place in the stock.
